Basic Machine Process Control:
Recently, during some of the presentations that I have done, the comment has been " that's find for the new machine but we don't have one of those". Well my comment is, you don't need one but you must be willing to spend some time and money on the existing machine. I am not talking thousands of dollars either.
Position change; should you be changing by time the addition of a mechanical limit switch on the injection unit that would tie into the boost timer and or injection timer would allow you to now change on the position.
Fill Time Clock; By installing a fill time clock you can now monitor the fill time and see if you are repeatable. This would be an electronic clock that allows itself, or you to reset each time. Possibly even just putting in the a port on the machine that the clock could plug into, you now only need one clock and move from machine to machine.
Hydraulic pressure gauge, digital. Get one of these and put "Ts" into the line at the current gauge and by using quick disconnects that seal, you can now move from one machine to the next.
Yes it is a cost, but if you are not even willing to do these simple things, you might be slowly missing the opportunity to stay competitive. This is a whole lot cheaper than a new machine which might not even be as repeatable as your current press.
Thanks for the time.
