In 1980, the Golden Gate Section decided to hold a Technical Fair at Mission College in Santa Clara, California. The purpose of the TECH FAIR was to bring together the diverse plastics processors, under one roof for one day, and to invite the Bay Area's original equipment manufacturers (OEM) to meet and discuss projects with these processors.

Now after more than 25 years, our ANNUAL TECH FAIR has evolved into informative seminars covering a variety of  topics and themes. In some years, we have offered tabletop exhibits.

Usually held in late April, the ANNUAL TECH FAIR offers both basic and advanced seminars, sometimes grouped in morning and afternoon packages. The seminars draw from our vast membership for speakers and topics and appeal to all levels of attendees.

After the seminars, the GGS usually holds its annual EDUCATION NIGHT dinner and award presentations.

EDUCATION NIGHT highlights the SPE-GGS Student Chapters as students present papers to an audience of Bay Area industry leaders. Our annual Louis Temesvary Memorial Scholarship is awarded during EDUCATION NIGHT.

Each of our student chapters: San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, and California State University Chico are showcased during the presentations and the forum provides for interaction between students and industry.

All proceeds from both the ANNUAL TECH FAIR and EDUCATION NIGHT go towards the support of our student chapters.

Individual and company sponsorships for the TECH FAIR and EDUCATION NIGHT are always welcome and are fully tax deductible. All sponsors receive recognition in the seminar rooms and have a bottle of wine raffled off in their name.
