Dear Principal:

This letter will serve to introduce you to the Society of Plastics Engineers.

We are a non-profit, international organization with a mission to promote the Scientific and Engineering knowledge of Plastics.

Our local Golden Gate Section has over 700 members and three college student chapters.

The purpose of this letter is to make your high school aware of the following resources available to you through the SPE:

1. Many of our businesses are available for scheduled field trips by your students.

2. Some of our members are able to speak before your students on job opportunities, on their particular type of business, or on a plastics related topic.

3. We have many FREE videos on the plastics industry include one titled "Not Your Average Field Trip" that is specifically designed for high school students, complete with work sheets and experiments.

4. We hold an annual Plastics Tech Fair and Education Night every April where we give our student chapters a chance to present new projects and open new discussions, while interfacing with the local industry.

5. We have an Education budget to assist high schools in teaching and promoting plastics.

6. And finally, we offer our International Essay Contest "WONDERS OF PLASTICS", with a $1000 honorarium for the student AND school. The

criteria and forms are enclosed within.

I have enclosed a short form to help us in getting a perspective on how we can better work with your high school.
