EDUCATION AWARD
CONTEST
The Education Award Contest is a yearly event that serves to recognize exceptional and outstanding educational accomplishments performed by Sections during each fiscal year.
Judges appointed by the SPE Education Committee make determination of the winners.
There are three awards given, one to a Section in each of the following three size categories: large Sections (500 or more members), medium Sections (200 to 499 members), and small Sections (under 200 members).
The December 31st paid membership report is used to establish an entrant’s category.
Details of the competition are sent to Education Committee Chairmen and Section Presidents every November. Entries must be submitted by the following February 15th.
Judging is completed during the month of March. All Sections are notified of the results in April.
Prizes are awarded at ANTEC.
The judging criteria and point values follow:
A. Education of Section Members (30 points)
- Monthly Programs
- SPE Sponsored Courses and Seminars
- Major Conferences
B. Education of Students (30 points)
- Support for High School Programs
- Support for Junior Colleges and Vocational Schools
- Support for Universities and Four-Year Colleges
C. Student Chapters (10 points)
- Support and Assistance for Student Chapters
D. Educating the General Public (10 points)
- Public awareness programs designed to enhance the image of the plastics industry and the status of its members
E. Bonus Points (20 points)
- Bonus points for innovative ideas in the field of education
