SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $750 is offered every school year by the Society of Plastics Engineers, Golden Gate Section. The mission of the SPE is to promote the knowledge and education of plastics worldwide.
This scholarship is open to all worthy students with a preference given to the following:
Qualifications:
1. Applicant must be a full-time student at:
* California State University at Chico
* San Francisco State University
* San Jose State University
The students primary emphasis should be on subjects related to the plastics industry. Those include mold and part design, plastics engineering and manufacturing, plastics technology and polymer science.
2. The criteria for selection may include scholastic aptitude, career objectives and extracurricular activities.
Application Procedure:
1. Application forms are available from the SPE GGS web site (see link below) or at the SPE Student Chapters at the above three schools.
2. The deadline for submitting the completed application is SEPTEMBER 18TH 2008.
3. Candidates will also submit the following with their application.
a. Transcripts of all college work (copies are acceptable).
b. A statement of educational goals and career intentions. This statement should be between 300-500 words.
c. A resume of extracurricular school activities, work experience and community involvement.
d. A personal reference and a reference from a college professor or teacher.
4. Winners will be selected by a committee made up of SPE and SPI members, and the decision of the committee is final. Personal interviews may be requested of the finalists. It is anticipated that the final awarding of the scholarship will be announced at the SPE GGS Education Night in April, every year.
5. In addition to the student scholarship of $750, the
plastics program at the school where the student is enrolled will receive
a $250 award which is intended to be used to benefit its plastics program.
